Easy Route Planning with Shipday

Meal-prep deliveries, grocery deliveries, flower deliveries, or other local E-commerce deliveries

Route planning process:

At Shipday, we added route optimization as a feature for delivery management of scheduled orders. We assume drivers are  all going to start and end at the same location, which is the location of the kitchen, warehouse or other facility.

Step 1:  Fix your settings:

  • First thing is to fix your settings. Change your business type to “delivery only” and add your contact phone and fixed pick-up location address there.
  • Turn ON Routing, select optimization criteria - Minimizing distance or Tavel time. You may need to upgrade to professional version to enable routing as it is part of the paid feature.

Step 2: Prepare your delivery data:

  • Go to orders tab, and click on Excel upload.
  • Download the excel template and populate it with your delivery data.
  • First few columns are required, so please fill them out.
  • Save the excel file after organizing all your addresses and then upload back

Step 3: Plan route on the map

  • After you upload, you can see all your delivery addresses on the map
  • Click on the top middle part of the map and look for an area drawer icon. With that, you can draw different clusters of delivery addresses to find suitable clusters for delivery.
  • Once you select a cluster of delivery addresses, it will show the optimal route
  • Then you can assign the route to the designated driver

Step 4: Route optimization and customer notifications:

  • Drivers can also optimize the route from their phone
  • They can also send SMS notification with live tracking link to all customers on the route
